The Grovecrest Library has some great art reference books.  My favorite is: The Art Book

I used this book often in college when I was studying art history.  It is a comprehensive alphabetical reference guide to 500 of the world's greatest painters and sculptors.  You can click on this link and scroll down to "look inside" pages of the book.  You can use it to show your class famous works of art.  The book provides a short description of the painting and artist.

"The Great Artist Series" is also available at the library. 

This series consists of 25 books on specific artists.  It shows examples of their most famous pieces and gives an in-depth history of their lives.  Artists include:
